MARKETING MANAGER 2.1 FOR RODOPI SET-UP
AND CONFIGURATION
1. Setting up the LogParser
You can install the LogParser on the same or
different computer than your RODOPI is installed. To run the log
parser you need Active Perl installed (you can download it for free
from www.activeware.com)
with Time::Local, Win32API::Registry, Win32::ODBC and Net::FTP
modules installed. Then you can schedule the LogParser to be executed
once a day or as often as you like. To run the LogParser you should
provide as a command line parameter the WINS name of the computer
where your RODOPI interface is installed and (optionally) second
parameter with full path to your RODOPI installation. For example if
your interface is located on computer named SRV and your interface is
installed in C:\MyRodopi you should start it with
LogParser.pl SRV C:\MyRodopi
The account you use to run the LogParser should have
permissions to open and read registry keys from the computer where
the interface is installed.
Your web servers should be configured to produce extended log files.
2. Configuring Marketing Manager 2.1
To configure Marketing Manager, go to your
administration page and click on Referrers. From here you can
configure where your log files are located and how to parse and
aggregate them.
2.1. Log Files Configuration
Use the Log Files Configuration page to add, edit or
delete log files which will be parsed. For each log file, you should
define the hostname of the web server, who generates this log file,
location of the file, and status - enabled or disabled. Log file
locations are of two types: Windows file location or FTP location.
Windows locations can be local or network names (for example \\SRV\WINNT\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1\).
Actual log file names will be generated by adding a file name prefix,
optional year, month and day digits and a suffix to your location.
You should configure log file locations to fit your web server
configurations for applying year, month and/or day digits in the log
file name.
2.2. Local Host Configuration
If you wish to exclude some referring sites (like
your own, for example) you can configure into the Local Hosts page
all hostnames which should be excluded from the referrers statistics.
2.3. Excluded Path Configuration
In the Excluded Paths page you can configure all the
paths in your website to which you don't want to create statistics
(like pages of your partners).
2.4. Aggregated Hosts Configuration
RODOPI Marketing Manager keeps track of hostnames
from which users are referred. If you want to aggregate several
hostnames under one, you can configure a master domain name for
aggregation. For example if you configure 'somedomain.com' like the
aggregated host, all users referred from www.somedomain.com,
www1.somedomain.com and www2.somedomain.com will be aggregated into
one host.
3. Marketing Manager Report
You can receive a report for all referred users from
the Managerial / Marketing (M&M) Reports page. Select Referrers
report. You may also wish to enter a hostname and period for which
you want to receive the report. You can use patterns for hostname
using * and ? signs as meta characters. In this report you will see
how many unique IP addresses are referred from each site, how many
clickthroughs occur from each site and how many customers actually go
on to subscribe.
By selecting a particular host and clicking on the
Details button you can receive detailed reports for every referral
from this site.
