Park Construction Delay
Have you walked by the new park
lately? If
so, you’ve probably noticed the construction has
slowed to a crawl. Wondering what was the reason
for the delay, I called City of Westminster
Landscape Architect Becky Eades. She apologized and said she’s as frustrated as we are.
Unfortunately, the contractor had a flatbed
trailer full of supplies and tools and it was stolen off
the site a few weeks ago. She said that while
she’s been frustrated at the delay, she had to be a
little sympathetic for an independent contractor
who finds himself in a sticky situation. Becky
asked us to be patient and assured me that we’ll start
seeing progress soon. The delay will likely cause the
City to abandon plans to sod the fields this winter,
which will give the whole project an unfinished look
until Spring. Once
the play equipment is installed, residents will be
welcome to use it. However, Becky asked me to “Request that residents refrain
from using the play equipment until it is fully
installed. I
realize it might be tempting for kids to want to play on
the climbing wall, but there are sharp edges and
gaps that have yet to be sealed.
For safety sake, please use another park until
the construction project is completed.”
Rules and Regs
Committee
The Rules and Regs subcommittee will meet again in
May to "fine tune" the new Rules and
Regulations that the Brittany Place will implement this
year.
